About Lakes Were Rivers
Lakes Were Rivers, a collective comprised of eleven artists that formed in 2008, makes work informed by the theory and the practice of photography. We exhibit individually and collectively, as well as publish limited-edition books. We are based in Austin, Texas with many members living throughout the United States, Lakes Were Rivers exhibitions have included the Harry Ransom Center at the University of Texas at Austin; Box 13 as a part of Fotofest in Houston, Texas; and Vanderbilt University. We have won an Idea Fund Grant from the Andy Warhol Foundation, a critic's pick in the Nashville Scene, and the Austin Chronicle's Best Photographers award in 2011.
